Many years ago I attended my very first class with a group of individuals that were looking to heal their beliefs around low self-esteem, abundance, poor health and broken relationships. I was a single mom working part-time while attending school full-time to get my degree in nursing. I had had my share of toxic romantic relationships and was definitely running on empty when it came to self-love. I was barely making ends meet. In fact, if it hadn’t been for the love and support from my parents (buying groceries and gas, babysitting and so much more), I probably would never have been able to complete my schooling. I had not had a healthy romantic relationship in quite some time and was feeling pretty hopeless in that area of my life.
During the class the teacher had us construct a vision board as one of our assignments. (This is now something I tell my students and clients to do on a regular basis.) I was reluctant but really liked the prospect of being able to create my future simply by cutting out pictures and words that had meaning to me. Plus, I actually enjoy being artsy, so I dove right in. I proceeded to cut out all kinds of things.
I was interested in learning about angels from Doreen Virtue so I cut out a picture of her (that one came true about ten years ago now…and did I mention I got to do it for FREE?!) I also had always wanted to swim with dolphins, so I put a picture of them on the board, too. (I have now swam with them a few different times, both in captivity and in the wild.)
Now mind you – I was not certified in scuba at the time nor did I ever even imagine that I someday would be, but I REALLY wanted to go to Australia someday and dive the Great Barrier Reef. I had no idea how any of this would possibly take place, but the teacher had instructed us to dream big and that’s exactly what I did!
I had lots of other things on there about my son, our health, traveling to other exotic places, etc. One of my biggest dreams was to be in a loving relationship with a partner that would honor and cherish me. I wanted to meet and marry my soulmate. That was my deepest heartfelt desire.
Well, if you know me or have been following me on social media at all for the past several years (SPOILER ALERT), you know that just that did happen. I met, fell madly in love with, and married the man of my dreams. (And did I mention dolphins actually showed up to our beach wedding?!)
ANNNNND…In celebration of our tenth wedding anniversary…
In just a few short weeks, I am headed to Australia with the love of my life to dive The Great Barrier Reef!!!!
(Be sure to follow our adventures on instagram and facebook.)
DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRUE!! I’m telling ya…
YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS STUFF UP!
Well, maybe you can…
In fact, maybe you can have EVERYTHING YOUR HEART DESIRES!
MAYBE YOU CAN LIVE AN INSPIRED LIFE AND CLAIM ALL OF THE BLISS AND ABUNDANCE THE UNIVERSE HAS TO OFFER!
I know it can happen, because it has happened for me. And I don’t believe the unconditional love and support of The Universe is just for some of us.
I believe it is for ALL OF US!!
In the words of Marianne Williamson:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
So I ask you, my friends…
Who are you to live your dreams? Actually, who are you NOT to?
What are you waiting for?! Grab some scissors and old magazines…get yourself a piece of poster board and start putting those dreams out there, my friends!
YOU DESERVE IT.
