Your Body Hears Everything You Think:
Is that statement true for you? The first time I ever heard that, I was like “yeah, right…big deal. I’m a pretty positive person…” The truth is, I had never really ever stopped to think about all of the nasty things I said about my skin, my hair, my tummy, my thighs. Not to mention the unhealed relationships that I openly gossiped about and fumed over internally, all the while rationalizing why I had a right to be upset. I never realized that unresolved anger actually had the power to create a tumor within me. What’s that old saying? “Resentment is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.” I just didn’t realize that the words I spoke externally as well as internally, really had the power to cause all kinds of issues like acidic stomach, knots in my neck, and unending anxiety.
I was introduced to the books “You Can Heal Your Life” and “Heal Your Body” by Louise Hay about ten years ago now. THANK GOD! I had just finished nursing school and was caring for some patients with chronic conditions when I picked them up. I was so intrigued that I joined a wonderful class that was being held locally so I could learn as much as I possibly could. During the class we talked about how our physical bodies manifest illness and disease based on our present emotions and thought patterns. I was AMAZED at the similarities that my patients had with the information that was provided in the books. Of course, as I got to reading more, I discovered the information coincided with friends and family members as well. When I looked up certain ailments from my own past, I was shocked to see that my mental patterns (beliefs) actually had created some awful conditions in my body! But here’s the cool part…if I had the power to create illness and pain in my body with negative thought patterns, then that must mean I have the power to heal it with new beliefs! Oh what a relief!! This began a beautiful interlude of using positive affirmations which became the gateway for emotional, mental, physical and spiritual freedom for me. I have forged a powerful and lasting relationship with these books, so much so that I have encouraged hundreds of other people, clients and students alike, to read through them and see if any of it feels true for them, too.
Today I lead workshops and private retreats on self-love, healing, and building meaningful relationships. I love witnessing the powerful transformation when students get that sparkle in their eye, feeling a new sense of appreciation for their mind-body connection.
