‘Tis the season for sharing love and gratitude and this year I am feeling especially thankful for my ability to consciously choose happiness. For years, even decades, I felt obligated to participate in dysfunctional family affairs out of guilt-ridden necessity. You know, “blood is thicker than water” and all that? I would feel tired, stressed and depleted before I even left the house only to return home filled with anxiety and grief. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I said no to attending and genuinely took back my power. I decided that I was no longer willing to be spoken to in unkind ways. I was no longer willing to place myself in a position to be harmed and treated disrespectfully.
As my self-love practice deepens, I’m more aware of the energy I allow into my space. It’s an environment I get to consciously create (or not!). I get to choose who I surround myself with and what I spend my time doing. In other words, I am the generator of my experiences, and if something (or someone) doesn’t feel in alignment, I can choose something different…
I love myself enough to choose something different… LOVE. HAPPINESS. PEACE. JOY.
Whitney Houston sang about the greatest love of all being the love of self and I could not agree more. I have included a free gift for you to download, print and use during the busy holiday season. It’s a DAILY SELF-CARE PLANNER that allows you to choose where you’d like to focus your time and how you want to spend it. It also includes a number of tips and tools you can utilize throughout the year. It’s my way of saying thank you and reminding you that you are never alone… AND it’s okay to say no. Take good care of yourself, my friend.
Wishing you much love and peace now and always!
